Lenovo Unveiled the IdeaPad S10 yesterday, which is the company’s first ultra-portable budget laptop.
The Lenovo S10 IdeaPad comes with a 10.2-inch screen and is based on the Intel’s Atom Processor. The Netbook will be offered in two configurations, one with 512 MB memory, 80GB HDD, and the other with 1GB memory and a 160 GB Hard drive.
HP announced its new budget laptop, the HP 550 without much of a fanfare. The HP 550 is an upgraded version of HP 530. Users can opt for memory up to 4GB and hard disk storage up to 250 GB.
The Notebook includes 802.11 wireless slot, Ethernet LAN, optional Bluetooth and 3 USB ports, VGA output and an Express Card slot.
The Notebook weighs 5.5 pounds and operating system options include Free DOS, Windows XP and Windows Vista.
HP says the product is "coming soon" and there is no information on the pricing.
Toshiba Italy unveiled a new notebook namely Portégé M800(spell it in Italian style). The laptop features a TruBrite widescreen display(1280×800), Intel Core 2 Duo(2GHz) processor, 250 GB Hard drive, 1 GB RAM and a DVD Super Multi Drive. The laptop offers Wi-fi and Bluetooth Connectivity.
Intel unveiled new features for its low-cost Classmate PCs by adding bigger screen, more data storage. The new Classmate PC will go on sale in April for a price of $300 and $500.
The PC will be available both in 7-inch and 9-inch LCD display, comes with Intel Celeron M processor, 512MB RAM, six-cell battery, integrated Web Camera, and Wi-Fi support.
Intel says the future versions will be available with an Intel’s Atom processor.
Toshiba introduced a new fully loaded 17-inch laptop that costs you just 749$. The Toshiba Satellite L350 comes with a 17″ screen with WXGA+ resolution(1440×900), TruBrite Panel, a dual-layer DVD Burner, Wi-Fi, Built-in Webcam, 2GB RAM, a GMA X3100 or ATI Radeon X1250 Graphic card, and AMD dual-core processor.
HP Pavilion dv2800, dv6800, dv9800 Notebooks will now come with Blu-ray drives. Blu-ray, which came as a winner in the HD DVD vs Blu-ray war is now a standard format in high-definition format.
The HP Pavilion dv2800 is a 14.1 inch screen with 1280×800 pixel resolution that comes with Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 Penryn processor, 4 GB of Ram, 320 GB Hard drive and Nvidia GeForce 8400 Graphic Card with 128MB dedicated memory and a Blu-Ray Drive. MORE »
A new laptop model which is a successor to dv2000 is launched exclusively for the Asian Market. The HP dv3000 comes with a 13.3 inch display and looks are same as its predecessor. Inside, the Laptop features a 2.5 GHz T9300 Penryn Core 2 Duo processor, GeForce Go 8400M graphic card with HDMI out, 160GB hard drive, 2GB Ram, webcam, and a dual layer DVD burner. All that for $1399, which is actually pretty good. The laptop would hit the Asian Stores around May this year.
Toshiba’s Dynabook SS RX1 is the world’s first to come with an optional built-in 128GB solid state drive. Apple MacBook Air has a 64 GB SSD Option which comes at steep $3100, SSD drives are costly and they are coming down. Considering the fact that a 128GB SSD costs 3000$ in the retail market, Toshiba Dynabook SS RX1 is pretty good buy if you can afford one.
The Specs include a 1.2 GHz Core 2 Duo processor, a 12.1 inch screen with a resolution of 1280×800. Battery life is claimed to be 12.5 hr. There is an option for CDMA Card, but unfortunately SSD and CDMA doesn’t come together.
Price: 4000$ for SSD Version.
Toshiba is going to release two laptops based on Intel Penryn processor, Satellite A300(15 inch) and P300(17 inch). Excepted Features are:

- Built-in fingerprint reader
- 1.3 MP Camera
- Integrated microphone
- 2GB RAM, 160 GB HDD
Price will vary depending on the choice of processor.
A Core2 Duo T5500 or T8100 Penryn based Laptop would cost $1480.
AMD Turion TL-60 with 250 GB Hard drive would cost $1,184.
