Elpida claims to have developed a 16GB fully buffered DIMM RAM module. The module is DDR2 based and is twice the existing still-rare 8GB modules. The RAM stick is unusually thin a 0.3-inch deep and needs the same power as that of an 8GB RAM module. This is done by using an unique integrated packaging that fit the memory without creating any excess.

Micron, the Intel’s partner in developing ultra-fast SSD’s just announced an update to its RealSSD line-up. The new P200 series, 2.5-inch(up to 250GB storage) and C200 series, 1.8-inch(up to 128GB) ultra-portable storage slabs offer an incredible 3Gbps SATA interface which is capable of reading 250 MB of data per second and writing 100MB of data per second. Now, that’s insanely fast. Unfortunately there is no word on the price, but Micron promised the cost to be lower.
LaCie has been around in the portable HDD segment and is known for its sleek designs. The company added another external portable Hard Drive with multiple interfaces. The HDD has eSATA port, FireWire 400 and USB 2.0 ports. FireWire 800 is missing though.
The eSATA(External Serial Advanced Technology Attachment) eliminates the need to translate data between the HDD and the computer, thus providing faster data transfers. The drives are available in 500GB, 750GB and 1TB versions.
Buffalo extended the DriveStation family by introducing the DriveStation Combo4, which is capable of connecting via intefaces like eSATA, FireWire 800, FireWire 400 and USB 2.0. The DriveStation Combo4 is an ideal external storage solution for both Mac and PC platforms.
The eSATA interface boosts the data transfer rates for PC, and FireWire 800 enables high-speed data transfer for Mac. The drive comes with TurboUSB technology for enhanced data transfer rates when compared to standard USB 2.0 connections.
InnoDisk unveiled its new 2.5 inch solid state drive, the FiD 2.5-inch SATA 10000 family which will be connected to the computer via standard SATA interface ( 2-3Gbps). This connection allows the SSD to read/writer at 110Mbps/90Mbps respectively. The SSD is placed in a rugged container that is capable of taking mechanical shocks and accidental drops.
The biggest disadvantage of SSD is its limited number of read/writer cycles, InnoDisk fixed this problem with its exclusive "wear leveling technology" and pushed the life time of of the drive to new peaks. The endurance of the the drive is app 8 yr at 1TByte of read/writer cycles per day.
