Toyota’s Winglet Scooter

toyota_wingletThe Japanese giant Toyota developed a Winglet, a two-wheeler scooter which Toyota calls "personal transport assistance robot". The Winglet comes in three sizes-small, medium and large. These scooters have the max cruising speed of 3.6 mph.

Toyota says the smaller version of the Winglet is just 18 inches tall and is designed to be ridden hands-free. All the Winglets have the same base, which houses an electric motor, two wheels with sensors that keep this thing balanced.

The smaller and most prettier of ‘em all weighs about 22 pounds, full charge on the battery would be good for at least three miles.

Panasonic’s new plasma technology

Panasonic is working to its full capacity on a new plasma technology that runs at low-voltage of 1.5volts. Panasonic already have plans to include its new plasma screen on a Cell Phone for use with AT&T’s Mobile TV Service, ATM’s and on HP printers.

Panasonic claims that their new plasma technology displays will out perform OLED displays in the aspects of brightness, contrast, and thinness. Also, the cost for manufacturing the displays will be far less than that of OLED Displays. Good Luck to Panasonic and Good Luck to us all.

Students at Osaka University’s Graduate School of Engineering Science have come up with a new gadget to access your iPod’s functions(play,stop, forward, rewind, skip) with the blink of an eye… yeah you read it right.

The “KomeKami Switch” or “Temple Switch” is clipped to something near the head region, to glasses or headphones.

Samsung is on a roll with back to back releases at CeBIT 2008. After the OLED TV, its time for the world’s largest LCD TV measuring 82 inches. There are other big Televisions, but all are plasma’s. With this television the company has quit its trademark technologies such as PDP and DLP and invented a new technology called Super Patterned-ITO Vertical Alignment(S-PVA), that provides extra wide viewing angles. Further, the panel ensures 1200:1 contrast ratio and 8ms response time.

ThruVision T5000 - A Camera that sees through Clothes

A British company ThruVision developed a camera that is capable of detecting weapons, drugs or explosives that are hidden under clothes from as far as 25 meters. This is achieved by what the company says “passive imaging technology”, a technology that can identify electromagnetic rays also know as Tetrahertz or T-rays.

Sun to put Java on iPhone

Sun Microsystems is developing a Java Virtual Machine for Apple iPhone and intends to release it in the coming June. Seems like, opening up iPhone SDK to Enterprises turned out to be a really good move by Apple for iPhone users and Apple itself.

JVM on iPhone could bring Games like Harry Potter and Enterprise applications like ERP or CRM, useful applications like MapQuest Mobile and thousands of existing Java based apps.

Above all Java on iPhone means security. Java can bring its SSL Security features to Apple’s platform as well.

iPhone gets games

iphone_games Good news for Gamers who have an iPhone, coz the phone is going to get games like Spore and others. This came soon after Apple opened up the iPhone’s Standard Development Kit(SDK) for developers. With the multitouch technology playing games on iPhone would be easier and fun. EA Games confirmed that the iPhone will get the game Spore(all levels) will be coming this September. There is a possibility for Super Monkey Ball as well.

Nokia’s bendable cell phone

Nokia and University of Cambridge demos a new bendable, stretchable, and flexible mobile device of the future called “Morph”.

The new concept phone was presented in an online display of an exhibition which is underway through May 12 at the Museum of Modern Art, New York.

The Device is made using nanotechnology, and can be bent into different shapes.
