HP is now offering Shanghai based Workstation model, the xw9400 featuring the latest AMD quad-core Opteron processor. Code named "Shanghai", this model is the first product to use an advanced 45nm processor from AMD.
Intel has been around selling the 45nm processors for over an year now, but AMD recently developed the energy efficient 45nm processor.
The HP xw9400 comes with either Windows Vista or XP Professional or Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system, Nvidia nForce Professional 3600 or 3050 chipset. The desktop can take up to 32 GB of RAM and five internal hard-drives. For advanced graphics solution an optional Nvidia Quadro FX cards with 1GB of memory is available.
The basic model of the HP xw9400 comes with a Dual-core AMD Opteron 2.2GHz processor, Nvidia nForce Professional 3600 or 3050 chipset, 4GB DDR2 SD RAM running at 667MHz, 250 GB SATA hard disk at 7200 RPM, NVIDIA Qudro FX1700 (512MB) Graphic card, and a 16X DVD+/-RW SuperMulti SATA Drive.
Depending on the configuration the price range starts from $2400 for a basic model and goes as high as $6300.
