Sony introduced three new mainstream DSLRs, the α230, α330, and α380 for the first time buyers.
The α230 and α330 are a 10.1 Megapixel cameras, where as the α380 is a 14.1 Megapixel Camera. All the models are smaller and lighter for a DSLR and comes with features such as SteadyShot for image stabilization, 2.7-inch clear photo LCD screen, HDMI terminal and dedicated slots for Sony’s Memory Stick Pro Duo, Memory Stick Pro HG Duo and SD/SDHC. There is a built-in Help Guide that graphically explains on the various modes and settings making the camera easier to use, since it is aimed at the first time DLSR users.
The high-end models α330 and α380 has Quick Autofocus Live View technology that maintains rapid response of a DLSR avoiding any focus delays. Additionally, the LCD screen on these models can be tilted up or down.
The cameras are optimized for use with APC-C sized image sensors featuring Smooth Autofocus Motor, the APC-C image sensors enables in-lens auto focus drive for smooth and quite operation.
Further, the models are available in two Series L and Y, the L series comes with one-lens kit that includes SAL-1855 standard zoom lens whereas the Y series comes with two-lens kit that includes SAL-1855 standard zoom and SAL-55200 telephoto lens.
The company is now taking Pre-orders and the prices are $850, $650 and $550 for L series models α380L, α330L and α230L. The Y-series models α380Y, α330Y and α230Y will cost $1050, $850, and $750 respectively.
