elpida-16gb-fully buffered-dimm-memory Elpida claims to have developed a 16GB fully buffered DIMM RAM module. The module is DDR2 based and is twice the existing still-rare 8GB modules. The RAM stick is unusually thin a  0.3-inch deep and needs the same power as that of an 8GB RAM module. This is done by using an unique integrated packaging that fit the memory without creating any excess.
