HP and the battery cell manufacturer for HP products believes that certain models shipped in between August 2007 and January 2008 has batteries that may pose potential hazard to customers.
The batteries can overheat and pose threat of fire or burn. So, the company is calling back over 70000 batteries and offering free replacement for the same.
These are models listed by HP as affected models:
HP Pavilion Series
dv2000, dv2500, dv2700, dv6000, dv6500, dv6700, dv9000, dv9500, dv9700
Compaq Presario Series
A900, F700, C700, V3000, V3500, V3700, V6000, V6500, V6700
HP G6000 and G7000
HP Compaq 6720s
