The leading camera maker Nikon is trying its hand in the portable multimedia entertainment space. Coming December 12, Nikon will be unleashing two multimedia headsets, the Media Port UP 300 (4GB) and the higher end 300X (8GB). The headsets comes with a built-in screen for video playback or streaming or Web surfing. It runs with rechargeable batteries and delivers up to 120min of video or 270min of audio playback.

The really cool thing about these headsets are that they have the embedded motion sensors for hands-free operation, which involves moving head up, down, left or right for playback controls. We saw this feature earlier in the KomeKami Switch, except they work on eye movements instead of the whole head movement. Well I must say Nikon’s Media Port headsets will sure give some nice neck exercise.

These headsets will not be available on the stateside for now, but if you are ready to cough up 680$ (69,800 yen) for the basic edition you must find someone in Tokyo to bring that for you.
