The mass production of the drive will only begin in the second quarter of 2009. Toshiba have also announced high performance 64GB, 128GB, 256GB SSD’s in the sizes 1.8-inch and 2.5-inch. These drives also use the 43nm MLC NAND memory, with SATA-II connection, maximum read speed of 240Mbps and write speed of 200Mbps.

No details on the cost have been given yet. These drives will make an appearance at the CES 2009 in January.

Toshiba unveiled a 16GB microSDHC card which will be put into mass production from January 2009 onwards.

The SD-C16G should be enough to store your entire favorite music collection with that much capacity. Toshiba is also introducing Class 6 SDHC models, SD-F16G and SD-F08G that are 16GB and 8GB cards respectively, very soon. No price details yet.

Also, there is a low-end version with 1.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Ultra Low Voltage processor, 1GB DDR2 RAM, 160 GB SATA drive, DVD Writer.

The Backup is said to be up to 9hours. The Laptop is already up for sale at Toshiba Canada’s online store. It won’t be long to hit the US stores.

Toshiba Italy unveiled a new notebook namely Portégé M800(spell it in Italian style). The laptop features a TruBrite widescreen display(1280×800), Intel Core 2 Duo(2GHz) processor, 250 GB Hard drive, 1 GB RAM and a DVD Super Multi Drive. The laptop offers Wi-fi and Bluetooth Connectivity.

Toshiba introduced a new fully loaded 17-inch laptop that costs you just 749$. The Toshiba Satellite L350 comes with a 17″ screen with WXGA+ resolution(1440×900), TruBrite Panel, a dual-layer DVD Burner, Wi-Fi, Built-in Webcam, 2GB RAM, a GMA X3100 or ATI Radeon X1250 Graphic card, and AMD dual-core processor.

The DVD Writer comes with Label Flash technology for burning labels or pictures directly on CD. Choice can be made between Core 2 Duo T5550 and a Turion 64 X2 TL-60 processors. The L350 series is available in different configurations, like the Satellite L355D-S7810 comes with an AMD Turion 64 X2 dual-core processor.

Toshiba’s Dynabook SS RX1 is the world’s first to come with an optional built-in 128GB solid state drive. Apple MacBook Air has a 64 GB SSD Option which comes at steep $3100, SSD drives are costly and they are coming down. Considering the fact that a 128GB SSD costs 3000$ in the retail market, Toshiba Dynabook SS RX1 is pretty good buy if you can afford one.

The Specs include a 1.2 GHz Core 2 Duo processor, a 12.1 inch screen with a resolution of 1280×800. Battery life is claimed to be 12.5 hr. There is an option for CDMA Card, but unfortunately SSD and CDMA doesn’t come together.

Price: 4000$ for SSD Version.

Toshiba is going to release two laptops based on Intel Penryn processor, Satellite A300(15 inch) and P300(17 inch). Excepted Features are:

- Harman Kardon speakers

- Built-in fingerprint reader

- 1.3 MP Camera

- Integrated microphone

- 2GB RAM, 160 GB HDD

Price will vary depending on the choice of processor.

A Core2 Duo T5500 or T8100 Penryn based Laptop would cost $1480.

AMD Turion TL-60 with 250 GB Hard drive would cost $1,184.

Not much details are available on the 17 inch P300 notebook, but it would probably have same specs as the A300.
