A normal PC wastes about half the energy provided to it, people shut down their PCs, or put them into sleep mode, when not working on them. To save this energy Kaestner has come up and recommended using a smart power strip which can tell when you’ve shut down your PC and turn off peripherals that are plugged into the computer. The older products should be replaced by the new 4.0 star energy certified products or we can also buy equipment that use fewer toxic materials and more recycled components.
This standard which already has come into effect limits the energy a PC can use in sleep and idle modes and requires the use of an internal power supply that is 80 percent efficient.
